CLASSIC IMAGE: FUN WITH 'CAPTAIN DIMITRI'

It seems that everyone wants to get in on the act of posing for fun pictures with the legendary Fred Astaire, as a happy Lance LeGault sheds his villainous Borellian Noman machinations of revenge for this great pic taken during the filming of The Man With Nine Lives in 1979.

CLASSIC IMAGE: COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC!

With the state of Cylon pursuit seemingly gone, the Rag-Tag Fleet begins to organise itself and establish a star community of sorts, with civilian travel becoming more accessible to vessels like the Rising Star, now open for business with its casino, and even video communications of sorts too.

A great effects shot showing the Galactica shuttle and a transport shuttle at work, one of the very rare new or re-composite shots for the latter half of the show's singular season, as seen in The Man With Nine Lives...

CLASSIC IMAGE: DEADLY REUNION!

Starbuck's long-lost father he might well prove to be, but the lovable rogue Chameleon, aka The Man With Nine Lives, might end up losing all of them, as the duo discover shadowy intruders within the Galactica's Alpha landing bay, in this memorable scene for the legendary Fred Astaire and the in-awe Dirk Benedict.

CLASSIC IMAGE: WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Probably the classic series greatest guest star, acting/dance legend Fred Astaire was simply marvellous as the aging conman who might just be the father of that equally lovable rogue-of-sorts Starbuck, in the highly-regarded episode The Man With Nine Lives. Had the series continued for a second year, I'm sure Astaire/Chameleon would have returned for more comedy escapades with a genuinely awestruck Dirk Benedict.

CLASSIC IMAGE: WE ARE WARRIORS!

Most of their race may have perished with the Cylon holocaust attack, but what's left of the Borellian Noman remain an indomitable, intimidating force regardless, especially when led by the intelligent and powerful Maaga (Lance LeGault), as he and his followers initiate a 'Blood Trail' for the elusive 'Captain Dimitri' in the classic action/comedy The Man with Nine Lives.

CLASSIC IMAGE: DAD?

A great posed image of Fred Astaire and Dirk Benedict on the Galactica bridge set, from one of my favourite episodes of the weekly series: The Man with Nine Lives, where Astaire shined as the wily con-man, and possible father to Starbuck, Chameleon.

CLASSIC IMAGE: FAMILY VALUES!

At the gaming table of the Rising Star, Starbuck finds his life suddenly turned upside down in his first encounter with that lovable rogue Chameleon, in a scene from the cast and crew favourite episode, The Man With Nine Lives, guest starring the legendary Fred Astaire.

CLASSIC IMAGE: LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON?

Special guest star Fred Astaire makes a tremendous impression as an actor, and as the character of Chameleon, on both Starbuck and Dirk Benedict, in the classic Galactica episode The Man With Nine Lives.

GOODBYE, LANCE LeGAULT...

The late Lance LeGault. Image via STARTREK.COM website.

Sorry to hear today of the sad passing of Lance LeGault, one of the great guest stars and character actors of modern American television over the last forty years, who's appeared in everything, including cult favourites like from THE A-TEAM, to BUCK ROGERS, to numerous STAR TREK series and BABYLON 5 spin-off, CRUSADE. I'll always remember him best, though, for his several episodes in classic BATTLESTAR GALACTICA as Maga, the scary leader of the fearsome Borellian Nomen triad, on a blood hunt for "Captain Dimitri", as played by Fred Astaire, in the classic episode The Man with Nine Lives, as well as a further guest appearance in the equally fine Baltar's Escape. Earlier in the series run, LeGault had also appeared without the heavy make-up to play a separate character, the doomed farmer Bootes killed by the Red Eye Cylon, in the episode The Lost Warrior.

LeGault as in Classic GALACTICA, as Maga.

Our deepest condolences go out to his wife and family in this very sad time.

BEHIND THE SCENES: YOUR PLACE OR MINE?

Dirk Benedict has some fun with one of the alien gods in an outtake from WAR OF THE GODS Part Two, from a fine collection of classic GALACTICA 1978/79 bloopers (which includes deleted scene material from The Man With Nine Lives) put up on Youtube by StingoftheScorpion78.

CLASSIC IMAGE: FATHER AND SON?

Here's another fun bit of nostalgia-one of those great US TV GUIDE clippings promoting the series, in particular THE MAN WITH NINE LIVES, guest-starring the late, great Fred Astaire in a fine performance as the con-man Chameleon, who may, or may not, be Starbuck's father. A fun episode, with a terrific pairing of Astaire and Dirk Benedict, and a great introduction to the Borellian Nomen.
