COMING SEPTEMBER 2026: 'BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - THE CLASSIC SERIES SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION'...

Finally, the entire collected score from Stu Phillips for the classic series is being made available from those fine, score-loving folks at Intrada as the show's Fiftieth Anniversary approaches. For sure, this classy box set will be a swift sell-out for fans and music enthusiasts worldwide.

More official info via FACEBOOK: 'A few more details since people have been asking. First, the set will retail for $129.99. This is not a reissue; Mike Matessino has rebuilt this from the ground up and spent months painfully restoring (and yes - expanding it. Now included is that Kobol establishing shot from Lost Planet of the Gods!). So save your pennies; this is a pretty impressive set.'

'GALACTICA' AT 40: STU PHILLIPS - MUSICAL MASTERMIND!

Stu Phillips, wearing one of the early cast and crew TV shirts for the series, at the 20th Century Fox recording studios in Los Angeles.

Another one of the great and all-time key ingredients to the enduring success of the classic Battlestar Galactica- the music composed and conducted by Stu Phillips- a friend and mainstay of Glen A. Lason who'd work on many of his film/TV projects- and two men who recognised and were influenced by the success of John Williams classic score for the sci-fi blockbuster Star Wars. Though continually up against the clock for the creation of the original film and mini-series music in 1978, Phillips ultimately thrived on the challenge, delivering an impressive and memorable score lasting throughout the original run's singular season into 1979, with created pieces organically fused alongside the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, then keen to spread their wings on diverse projects, of which Galactica's wide-ranging score of drama and excitement brought to life through their musicians was surely one of their finest accomplishments.

CLASSIC ART: MOOG MUSIC!

Blasting away from a red sun, the battle between Colonials and Cylons continues in this lovely art adorning a US 1978 album of covers for Stu Phillips soaring music for the series, courtesy of the brilliantly named Electric Moog Orchestra!

Look forward to hearing this one someday!

CLASSIC MERCHANDISE: DISCO INFERNO!

The mid-seventies was disco-time, and even sci-fi films and television series were cashing in on the act. First was STAR WARS, then came GALACTICA. I'd like to see some Cylons trying to boogie-on down the dance floor to this Stu Phillips re-arranged groove!

CLASSIC ART: MUSIC FOR WARRIORS!

Another excellent art cover (any ideas who did it?) - this time for the BG music by Stu Phillips, in a third volume released by the Intrada label. Hard to get, I bet these compilations sound terrific!
