CLASSIC MERCHANDISE: SHOWCASING LIGHT AND DARKNESS!

It may not have gone past its fourth and final issue back in 1978, but the distinctive Battlestar Galactica poster magazine series, published by Paradise Press with Universal, remains treasured by fans. I still have to get hold of this one after all these years, what with its memorable Adama/Lucifer cover. 

In the UK, I only remember the first issue coming out, specifically targeted with the theatrical release of Saga of a Star World. Am I wrong about this?

Dragged not to his execution but an unexpected meeting with an all-new and seemingly more benevolent Imperious Leader, Baltar's fortunes seemed to have changed, especially now that he is given a Cylon Basestar and an IL series special assistant, Lucifer, in his help to find the Colonial Fleet, during the additional series-leading ending sequence to the original pilot movie, Saga of a Star World.

The ultimate traitor to humanity, Count Baltar enjoys his reign of a Cylon Basestar and all the power along with it, be it via the hundreds of Centurions in constant activity within it, or wielding his egotistic authority and need to hunt the Colonial survivors to destruction through his humorous IL series servant, the quirky Lucifer, as seen in this great cover art by Daniel HDR for issue 4 of Dynamite's Classic Galactica comic series.

Putting the most into his confident swagger, the captured Starbuck daringly confronts the traitorous Baltar within his Cylon Basestar, in a classic scene for Dirk Benedict from Lost Planet of the Gods, Part Two.

In his new command centre on his Cylon Basestar (designed to cut down on lengthy lighting and filming time on the previous bigger chamber set), Count Baltar receives news from the Atilla Outpost on the recent capture of a Colonial Warrior, much to the annoyance of his servant Lucifer, jealous of the Outpost's ambitious fellow IL series Cylon, Spectre. Baltar's right hand Cylon, Lucifer, voiced by the inimitable Jonathan Harris, gets a new red wardrobe from the series mid-point, though his sarcasm and humour to his human leader remains as consistent and enjoyable as ever!

Alex Ross's superb final cover art for the 2013 anniversary DYNAMITE comics series, Memorial, shows us the expanding influence and danger of the robotic Cylon Empire across the universe beyond the events of the television series.

John Colico's galactic spanning, Judas-like figure of Baltar makes an impression, along with his robot servant Lucifer, on the cover of the classic BG Eve of Destruction prelude from Realm Press.
