'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: AVALANCHE!

As the pulsar firing continues, so comes resultant ice and snow displacement hurtling down the mountain side as the burly Clone Ser 5-9 is injured in an immense avalanche descending on the Colonial expedition, his leg injury so severe that he ultimately will have to be assisted down the mountain ledge by Tenna as the remaining four members continue their mission, of which Leda and Wolfe are planning to escape as soon as they are on firmer ground atop the mountain.

The immense avalanche begins...

Apollo warns his colleagues: "Avalanche!"

Apollo races to push Croft away from the oncoming snow.

Croft owes Apollo his life.

Ser 5-9 has been seriously injured by a massive rock fall amidst the snow.

Leda reveals the extent of Ser 5-9's injury.

Despite his Theta Clone disguise, Thane has ultimately been captured and brought before a Cylon squad for interrogation, watched by a shocked Clone Community. As Starbuck and Tenna arrive, they soon witness Thane, who refuses to cooperate with his captors, commit suicide as he gets a Cylon to inadvertently activate a devastating handmine he has had hidden about his person.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: INTRODUCING DOCTOR RAVASHOL!

Infiltrating his one-man scientific establishment at the base of Mount Hekla, Ser 5-9 and Apollo meet Dr. Ravashol, who is immediately unwilling to listen to Apollo and how his energy lens system communications device has been perverted for use as a devastating weapon of war against humanity. When Cylons arrive to search the quarters for the Colonials, they take Ser 5-9 away for visitation violation punishment, as Apollo, out of hiding, reasons with Ravashol, informing him that his clones have been secretly breeding children themselves, all of whom could soon be in the sights of the Cylons extermination plans unless Ravashol aides his human colleagues.

Dr. Ravashol (Dan O'Herlihy) is revealed.

Ser 5-9 and Apollo meet the Dr.

Ravashol recognises Ser 5-9 but is immediately unwelcoming to Captain Apollo, and the Colonials.

The Cylons arrive to search Ravashol's facility. Ser 5-9 hides Apollo as the Cylons enter.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: MEETING THE CLONE PLANNERS!

The primary Clone Planner (Liam Sullivan).

Five Clone Planners, looking like more youthful versions of their 'Father Creator' human originator, run the Theta Colony near the Cylons garrison, of which Ser 5-9 and Apollo visit them so as to get permission to meet Dr. Ravashol, which they deny, resulting in our heroes finding alternate means to see the scientist (not revealed onscreen). The main representative of the Planners then goes to tell the Cylons at the garrison of the Colonials arrival in the village, resulting in their disruptive and violent search beginning (as seen in the two-part version).

A Planner with blue stripes and white hair/beard resembling Ravashol can be seen in the TV version's finale (played by TV series veteran actor Liam Sullivan, who also appeared in the controversial Original Star Trek episode, Plato's Stepchildren), but his role in the final two-parter incarnation is pretty much removed, much to the actor's then great frustration and disappointment. The look of the Planners in the TV version of Gun is also different to the way they are later described in the Glen A. Larson and Robert Thurston novel adaptation of the tale.

Ser 5-9 and Apollo try to win the co-operation of the planners to see Doctor Ravashol.

Conferring with his colleagues.

The Clone Planners confer on whether Apollo can visit Dr Ravashol. Note on the top far right corner, the painting of Doctor Ravashol - the "Father Creator".

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THE CLONE RESISTANCE!

Used to the beautiful but hostile environment of Arcta, the heroic clones Ser 5-9 and Tenna prove superb leaders guiding the Colonial heroes to the Theta Underground dwellings. Their strength of purpose is well realized in these lovely on-set publicity images of Denny Miller and former 'James Bond Girl' Britt Ekland, prestigious casting for the series originally planned second feature-length adventure, The Gun on Ice Planet Zero.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THE THETA CLONES JOIN THE FIGHT!

Now recovered from di-ethene poisoning on the outside plateau to which their Snowram was prior trapped, our Galactica party find that they have been rescued by a band of renegade clones fighting the Cylons who have taken over their world and enslaved the Thetans' 'Father Creator' - the revered human scientist Doctor Ravashol, the inventor responsible for the pulse energy lens communication system now being used as a weapon by the Cylons.

The Colonial Team awakens to find themselves rescued.

Our heroes awaken in a new environment clearly indicating an ongoing conflict against the Cylons. A deleted scene moment.

Are their rescuers friend or foe?

Wolfe has a simple plan: jump 'em and get outta here.

Clone resistance force leaders Ser 5-9 (Denny Miller) and Tenna (Britt Ekland) soon introduce themselves.

The Colonials and Theta Resistance forces join together.

Discovering that the Colonials have solenite charges strong enough to destroy the laser, the renegade clones, led by Ser 5-9 (Denny Miller) and Tenna (Britt Ekland) agree to guide the human party, bar the wounded Voight, Vickers and Sgt. Haals, to the underground Thetan community being held by the Cylons, so as to meet Ravashol.

In a deleted scene, Apollo orders Haals (Curtis Credel) to stay behind to look after their injured colleagues Voight and Vickers.

GOODBYE, DENNY MILLER...

Sad to hear the news this weekend of the passing, at 80, of one of the undisputed kings of US TV guest star appearances: Denny Miller, who'd been in pretty much every major popular cult series you could think of, playing heroes and baddies, from Airwolf to V: the original mini-series. Classic GALACTICA fans will, of course, remember him the most for his playing a multitude of clone heroes helping Apollo and company destroy the Gun on Ice Planet Zero - one of the show's earliest and finest stories.

Our condolences go out to Mister Miller's family in this difficult time...
