THE SIEGE!

The inmates have taken control of the asylum, as the saying goes, of which Adama and his command crew, watched by a now powerless Siress Tinia, must take swift command of the situation against Baltar's actions towards the Galactica and his hostage taking, in a tense scene from Baltar's Escape.

REUNITED IN LOVE AND GLORY!

It's a time of joy for the Colonial Fleet as the legendary Cylon killer Commander Cain is discovered very much alive and well, alongside the brave men and women of his equally legendary Battlestar Pegasus. For Cain, its great to be reunited with other members of humanity, especially his lost love Cassiopeia, in this scene from The Living Legend, Part One.

CLASSIC IMAGE: FUN WITH 'CAPTAIN DIMITRI'

It seems that everyone wants to get in on the act of posing for fun pictures with the legendary Fred Astaire, as a happy Lance LeGault sheds his villainous Borellian Noman machinations of revenge for this great pic taken during the filming of The Man With Nine Lives in 1979.

CLASSIC IMAGE: CHEERING ON THEIR GREATEST HEROES!

An innocent man once again, Starbuck rejoins his loyal-to-the-end friend and Triad game partner Apollo, where he is also cheered on by sports fans across the Colonial fleet, as well as his dearest friends, in this warm-hearted character scene that the Classic Galactica series always did best, closing Murder on the Rising Star.

CLASSIC IMAGE: COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC!

With the state of Cylon pursuit seemingly gone, the Rag-Tag Fleet begins to organise itself and establish a star community of sorts, with civilian travel becoming more accessible to vessels like the Rising Star, now open for business with its casino, and even video communications of sorts too.

A great effects shot showing the Galactica shuttle and a transport shuttle at work, one of the very rare new or re-composite shots for the latter half of the show's singular season, as seen in The Man With Nine Lives...

A DARK WELCOME TO THE GALACTICA!

Soon given free run access to the Galactica by Sheba, even within its secure areas, it's as if the young beauty/warrior is spellbound with the Colonial discovery of the mysterious and enigmatic Count Iblis, played with dark intensity and charm by the legendary Patrick Macnee, during the opening episode of War of the Gods.

CLASSIC IMAGE: MED-TECH BEAUTY!

Still wowing us with her acting talent and beauty, the lovely Laurette Spang poses as the equally warm Cassiopeia for another classic publicity image taken during the mid-series point, likely around the time of The Man With Nine Lives.

'MISSION' AT 45: THE SPACE FIRE FIGHTERS!

With time running out, Apollo and Starbuck begin a desperate mission outside the Galactica.

With the fire raging out of control within the Galactica, and critical systems about to extinguish, a bold plan, from the mind of the injured Adama, sees Apollo and Starbuck in spacesuits line the hull of the Battlestar's hull with explosives at key points, so as to detonate and flood the shop with the vacuum of space. The plan, though hugely dangerous, proves a success and the fire is put out, but not before Starbuck makes a daring space leap to rescue his friend during the mission's final phase.

Loaded with explosives, the space suit wearing Apollo goes to worl.

Starbuck lays his own separate charges across the vessel.

Setting the Solenite charges.

Starbuck makes a rescue leap to the now out of control Apollo.

The explosions are a success and the fires inside are soon put out.

Our heroes, now in space, are soon rescued by shuttle, thanks to the observant Sheba in her Viper.

As Adama recovers from touch-and-go surgery in the Life Station, our heroes ponder with hope that Cain and the Pegasus might have survived their battle with the Cylon Basestars...

We hope you've enjoyed our coverage of Mission: Galactica - The Cylon Attack in it's 45th Anniversary...

'MISSION' AT 45: COMBATING AN INFERNO!

International lobby card of the dramatic scene.

Now the sole protectorate of humanity once again, the Galactica's skilled and heroic fire-fighting teams are losing their battle to fan out the huge, out of control flames that have engulfed much of the interior of the Battlestar following on from the Cylon kamikaze attack. All hands are out to protect the vessel's power energisers area, especially whilst Commander Adama is undergoing major surgery at this critical time within the beleagured Life Station, under the skilled hands of Doctor Salik.

'MISSION' AT 45: THE KAMIKAZE ATTACK!

A catastrophe on the bridge!

A spectacular sequence from the film (with great stunt work and pyrotechnics), even if it had been pinched from the weekly series episode Fire in Space, as the Galactica bridge and its crew are caught in a brutal kamikaze attack by a Cylon fighter packed with Solenite explosives that near destroys them, bringing many casualties and critically wounding Commander Adama at the worst possible time, his injured body soon taken to the Life Centre medical area for upcoming dangerous surgery amidst a now compromised, fire-stricken Galactica.

Running from a major explosion.

Tigh and Lt. Omega tend to the fallen Adama in the international lobby card for the film.

Lorne Greene is given his 'wounds' by the Universal make-up team.

'MISSION' AT 45: CAIN'S FIREPOWER!

Upside down image used for the film's international lobby card.

Unaware that the Galactica has been critically wounded by massed Cylon Raiders, the Pegasus moves on its its plan to attack Baltar and his three Basestars, as Cain, helped by agile Viper attack support from Apollo and Starbuck, unleashes all the missile power at his disposal against the enemy. Spectacular explosions follow, of which two Basestars are destroyed. But amidst the carnage, the Pegasus has either disappeared into space or been obliterated in the epic crossfire...

An impressive image used for publicity, even if it is upside down!

'MISSION' AT 45: NO TURNING BACK...

International lobby card.

With the Galactica's Alpha Landing Bay incapacitated and most of the its Viper squadrons aboard the Pegasus, the loyal and bold Captain Apollo is not surprised to discover that Cain's original plan to lead the Cylon task force away from the Colonial Fleet was never actually going to happen, and that instead he'd be going after Baltar's hide, the human traitor currently protected by his three Cylon Basestars.

As an unbelievable wave of enemy shops begins its approach to the Pegasus, Apollo shares his concerns that many brave young pilots won't survive such a head-on punch through of the Cylon armada, but Cain, whom Apollo once admired for his supreme battle tactics and courage, remains resilient in his new strategy, which will ultimately succeed, but not before any non essential personnel and wounded (including Bojay) are evacuated by shuttles to the Galactica...

A memorable scene well played onscreen by Lloyd Bridges and Richard Hatch,

'MISSION' AT 45: DESTINATION: LIFE STATION!

Bojay, having been injured during the mission on Gamoray, now heads via shuttle to the Pegasus for immediate Life Station treatment, tended to by Sheba before she joins her Viper colleagues in fighting against an incredible wave of enemy ships now approaching the separated Battlestars in retaliation for the attack on their Imperious Leader...

Apart from the success of the overall mission to capture fuel for the Colonial Fleet, on a personal level, Sheba finally accepts Cassiopeia's place in her father's life, recognising her friendship and bravery during not just the Gamoray incident but soon in adventures and life endeavours beyond this one as the Pegasus survivor goes on to become a warmly welcomed member of the Galactica family.

'MISSION' AT 45: THE CYLONS OF GAMORAY!

A diversity of Cylon technicians, drones and ranked Centurions gather en mase on Gamoray for the inauguration of their technologically advanced city by the beloved Imperious Leader, unaware that it will soon have the pogees blown out of it by the enthused Viper forces of the Galactica.

The Cylon control centre and its occupants are swiftly destroyed by the blaster and explosive skills of Starbuck and Boomer.

Various Cylons gather on the city concourse...

As seen in an international lobby card.

... before its strafed by newly arrived Colonial Vipers!

'MISSION' AT 45: WELCOMING THE IMPERIOUS LEADER!

The Imperious Leader (voiced agains by Patrick Macnee) addresses his robot minions.

It's an auspicious occasion for the Cylons of Gamoray as the latest version of their Imperious Leader (once more voiced by British icon Patrick Macnee) arrives on that world to officially dedicate and celebrate their newly created base and the planet's vital and significant position in the Cylon powerbase.

The Leader will soon be shocked by the destruction wrought to the city by Colonial Warriors!

In a deleted scene sequence, the two IL Series Cylons discuss the Cylons' destruction of the Delphinians but managed to keep their city buildings intact, notably the great hall they are currently in. They also discuss the Cylons ongoing war efforts across the universe (clearly, the Cylons have other enemies beyond the humans whom they wish to destroy), and the last attack by Cain and his warriors on the city, of which clear-up operations have only just been completed before the arrival of their Imperious Leader.

Cylon IL civilians discuss the event.

A Gold Command Centurion heralds their leader's arrival at the space dome.

The Imperious Leader walks to his podium, watched by his fellow Cylons.

'MISSION' AT 45: INSIDE THE CYLON CITY!

As Apollo's covert assault team begins planting explosives across key areas of Gamoray city, Starbuck and Boomer begin their interior search for the enemy control centre that also needs to be neutralised prior to Viper air assault. Incredulously, their current locale is seemingly deserted, our duo unaware that the Cylon's Imperious Leader has now arrived at the base for an important gathering...

In a deleted scene, Starbuck and Boomer follow the Gold Centurion and his guards to the command centre from the audience chamber corridor, once the Colonial bombings of the city have started.

Dirk checks his script between shooting action scenes.

A US TV/celebrity magazine covers Dirk Benedict enjoying Starbuck's new all-black combat outfit, during The Living Legend's location filming.

'MISSION' AT 45: THE GAMORAY ASSAULT!

A Cylon Centurion patrolling the city of Gamoray is soon taken out by the parachuting Colonial Assault Team.

As our small but deadly Colonial Assault Team lands via parachutes on Gamoray, they swiftly take out a Cylon patrol before splitting up on their missions to destroy the Control Centre's anti-assault batteries and detonate nearby fuel bay areas so as to generate maximum chaos and confusion before the Galactica's fuel shuttle force arrive.

A Colonial Shuttle makes a fast journey to Gamoray where our heroes parachute to the surface. The night shot of the city was previously used for Caprica in Saga of a Star World.

Posed publicity of Laurette Spang and Richard Hatch in their black combat outfits.

Surely one of the hottest posed pictures of Sheba and Cassie ever!

Bojay is injured whilst dealing with a lone Cylon.

'MISSION' AT 45: NEW RECRUITS FOR THE GROUND FORCE!

Two new additions for a special mission.

Commander Cain's bold plan to take the Gamoray fuel depots, approved by a desperate and wary Adama, needs experienced pilots/warriors who have prior flown over the Cylon City. Enter Sheba and Bojay, controversial but necessary choices to the Galactica's parachuting-in assault team led by Apollo, with Lt. Starbuck (who doesn't believe in any kind of one-way missions that this could prove to be!) and the ever-reliable Lt. Boomer.

Soon enough the Galactica shuttle is away, its occupants heading into one of the most dangerous missions of their lives...

Using her status as a med-tech, Cassie joins the mission, whilst Sheba has suspicions about her father's upcoming battle tactics.

Buddies behind the scenes: Richard Hatch and Jack Stauffer on the landing deck set.

"MISSION' AT 45: APOLLO'S JOURNEY!

The best and most respected pilot/warrior of the Galactica, and a noble protector of humanity, Captain Apollo, strike leader of the Blue Squadron Colonial Vipers, faces difficult decisions and death-defying ground/space combat missions with the incredulous return of the legendary Commander Cain and the formidable Battlestar Pegasus...

Three great posed images of Richard Hatch in his most beloved role as Apollo, taken in Adama's quarters, used for key publicity during the 1979 cinematic release of Mission: Galactica - The Cylon Attack.

Hatch makes the cover of the German entertainment magazine Bravo.
