He may be imprisoned on a far off prison colony bizarrely still holding people hostage for the crimes of their ancestors, but that doesn't stop the fun-seeking Starbuck from enjoying the fine company of the enchanting gypsy-esque criminal Adultress 58 (Arlene Matrel - aka Tasha Martel), in these fun publicity images for one of the earliest shot Galactica series episodes, The Long Patrol.

CLASSIC IMAGE: THE ORIGINAL 'SAGA' VILLAINS!

A true image gathering of the terrifying creatures encountered by our Colonial Heroes from the original pilot episode, Saga of a Star World, where the Cylons (and their Imperious Leader) were genuinely scary in their intent to destroy humanity, and the Ovions strikingly creepy as they attempted to eat the Twelve Colonies survivors within the underground depths of their Carillon-based casino.

Captain Apollo couldn't have a better wingman on the 'Armistice' patrol than his fresh out of the Academy brother Zac, who scored higher skills ratings than even the formidable leader of Blue Squadron himself.

CLASSIC ART: A LOOK AT MANKIND'S PAST FUTURE...

Another iconic piece of conceptual art by the legendary Ralph McQuarrie representing the lush, futuristic realms of an alien world in the Colonies, we assume the ultimately doomed Caprica, from 1977/78. It was used for promotional purposes by ABC TV, sadly in B/W form, during their early push for what was originally Star Worlds, then the singular Galactica.

Three great posed images of Richard Hatch in his most beloved role as Apollo, taken in Adama's quarters, used for key publicity during the 1979 cinematic release of Mission: Galactica - The Cylon Attack.

Hatch makes the cover of the German entertainment magazine Bravo.

Back in the day, Starlog magazine did a lovely interview with the glorious Maren Jensen during the start of her time working on Galactica, and her hopes for the future. Here are a few of the outtake images of the ever-lovely actress from the posed Universal Studios/ABC TV publicity shoot that the magazine was originally given access to.

CLASSIC MEDIA: GETTING WEIRD WITH 'WEIRD WORLDS'!

The arrival of the trailblazing Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica States-side saw the debut of many all-new cash-in magazines celebrating their impact in cinema and on TV, alongside articles on other classics of the genre like the original Star Trek, The Outer Limits, and many Gerry Anderson productions. Weird Worlds made Galactica their launch launch cover (with a rare image) back in 1978, but did it ever make it to a second issue?

'GALACTICA:1980': INTRODUCING THE NEW SERIES...

Despite the huge loss of Apollo and Starbuck, Galactica fans must surely have been excited for the then upcoming new series that was Galactica 1980, of which this US TV Guide magazine publicity looked intriguing enough to get viewers watching its opening installments. But such potential promise wasn't to last, as the series became too restricted and noticeably too budget strapped in its soon family audience format.

CLASSIC ART: WHEN 'MEDIASCENE' PREVIEWED 'GALACTICA'!

Soon an influential title in the realms of mainstream and cult movies and TV, comic book artist and graphic design talent Jim Steranko's Mediascene Prevue magazine was a must-have title, and one that not only had great journalistic content but always looked particularly exciting in the way it showcased science fiction, soon given a new lease by the commercial success of the original Star Wars. Battlestar Galactica was soon equally well represented by 1978 (issue 29 Jan/Feb), as seen with this fine advance publicity salvo with its exclusive use of the Ralph McQuarrie classic conceptual art of a Viper pursued by Cylon Raiders - presumably the first time that this image had been used in the production's highly successful marketing campaign?

It's been far too long since we've had a gorgeous posed picture of the beautiful Maren Jensen on the site, and I'm sure we're all getting intense withdrawal symptoms in the process. So, situation rectified with this lovely promo shot from 1978!

Once again proving himself a fine leader during dangerous times, the spirited but level-headed Captain Apollo, as always finely portrayed by the late Richard Hatch, poses for a series publicity image within the crevasse set built for filming at the Universal Studios sound stages.

Dirk Benedict and top Swedish actress Britt Ekland pose for some fun publicity images during the filming of Gun on Ice Planet Zero at Universal Studios, Burbank. Ekland was at that point a likely contract player for the studio and did selected TV movie work for them, especially one of Glen A. Larson's extended The Six Million Dollar Man produced episodes a few years earlier...

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THE CLONE RESISTANCE!

Used to the beautiful but hostile environment of Arcta, the heroic clones Ser 5-9 and Tenna prove superb leaders guiding the Colonial heroes to the Theta Underground dwellings. Their strength of purpose is well realized in these lovely on-set publicity images of Denny Miller and former 'James Bond Girl' Britt Ekland, prestigious casting for the series originally planned second feature-length adventure, The Gun on Ice Planet Zero.

On the Galactica bridge, Commander Adama (Lorne Greene) confers with his trusted aides, daughter Athena (Maren Jensen) and Colonel Tigh (Terry Carter) on his instincts that, with their recent attacks, the Cylons are herding the Galactica specifically into a nearby quadrant - a supposed 'safe passage'. But why?
