In the company of Cylons!

Here's a nice little addition to the exhaustive coverage we gave to the original version of The Gun on Ice Planet Zero last year, a selection of images that have surfaced online of some of the main cast members taken outside one of the main Galactica filming soundstages at Universal Studios back in mid-1978, some of which sadly never appeared in promotional coverage. There's probably even more images like this out there waiting to be discovered.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45 - THE DEATH OF LEDA!

The Cylon garrison on Arcta has been wiped out by Starbuck, Boomer and his team, arriving to liaise with Apollo as the Pulsar Cannon is about to be destroyed by Colonial demolitions. Sadly, despite their success, there has been a tragic casualty, as Leda, shot by a Cylon Centurion whilst protecting her husband, dies quickly in a helpless and devastated Croft's arms.

Croft has no choice but to abandon his dead wife at the station, as he, the Colonials and Clones rush to evacuate the area and mountain prior to the soon explosion.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: VULPA'S MURDEROUS ATTACK!

Leda sacrifices her life to save Croft, watched by a helpless Apollo.

Arrived at the cannon pumping station, Vulpa attacks the Colonial Demolitions trio, with Leda, protecting  Croft and taking a deadly blast meant for her husband. Starbuck arrives to finally destroy Vulpa, though it take several mighty efforts to take it down.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THE ATTACKS BEGIN!

The time has come as the Colonial attacks on the garrison and the pulsar weapon begin simultaneously. Apollo, Croft and Leda take on the heavily guarded pump area of the weapon and destroy the Cylons. They soon begin priming their solenite explosive charges on vital points of the weapons control areas.

A fine action sequence, accompanied by great incidental music from Stu Phillips.

The countdown to the attacks on both the Cylon Garrison and the Pulsar Cannon control station is soon approaching as Leda, Croft and Apollo get ready to make their last stand surprise assault and plant their explosives...

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: PERIL IN THE INTAKE PIPE!

No sooner have the Colonials penetrated the intake pipe then they have to hold on for dear life as the tunnel shaft is activated. Thankfully, its duration is mercifully brief and they finally infiltrate the control/pump station area, readying themselves for attack.

Apollo and his colleagues brace themselves through intense air pressure and noise.

Their objective achieved...

Croft provides cover as the others follow.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THE ESCAPE BID!

A shocking surprise for Apollo.

The time has come when, upon reaching the ridge, Wolfe and Leda hold Apollo at gun point as they prepare to steal a nearby Cylon fighter. Apollo's reaching out to Wolfe and Leda to help destroy the weapon fails, and as Wolfe prepares to kill Apollo, a distracting pulsar blast helps Croft surprise tackle and fight his criminal associate, and retrieve his blaster. As Wolfe runs into the snow, Croft prepares to kill him, but ultimately hesitates. Apollo knows that Wolfe will never make it to the Cylon landing area...

A dignified Croft forces Leda to help him and Apollo in the final stages of their mountain ascension. They have a mission to complete, and a fleet of human survivors to save from annihilation...

Wolfe holds his concealed blaster on Apollo.

Croft takes aim at the retreating Wolfe, but hesitates...

Wolfe disappears into the snow.

Croft forces Leda back to the Colonial cause.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: AVALANCHE!

As the pulsar firing continues, so comes resultant ice and snow displacement hurtling down the mountain side as the burly Clone Ser 5-9 is injured in an immense avalanche descending on the Colonial expedition, his leg injury so severe that he ultimately will have to be assisted down the mountain ledge by Tenna as the remaining four members continue their mission, of which Leda and Wolfe are planning to escape as soon as they are on firmer ground atop the mountain.

The immense avalanche begins...

Apollo warns his colleagues: "Avalanche!"

Apollo races to push Croft away from the oncoming snow.

Croft owes Apollo his life.

Ser 5-9 has been seriously injured by a massive rock fall amidst the snow.

Leda reveals the extent of Ser 5-9's injury.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: PREPARING TO ASCEND THE PULSAR MOUNTAIN!

Wolfe and Leda must recruit Croft to their escape bid upon reaching the mountain.

With the time of 200 centons barely upon them before before the Galactica and the colonial fleet has no choice but to enter the spacial corridor near Arcta, and be in the targeting sights of the pulsar, our heroic team splits into two, with Starbuck leading the garrison attack alongside Boomer and the Clone resistance, whilst Apollo takes the remaining specialists with Ser 5-9 and Tenna to ascend the pulsar mountain and enter the main base - the weapon's weak points for attack having now been revealed by Dr. Ravashol...

The Galactica and her entire fleet are finished, Leda tells Croft as she urges him to join her and Wolfe.

Croft grudgingly agrees despite his deep down wish to be re-instated as a Colonial Warrior.

But as the expedition begins, Leda and Wolfe, recruiting a wary Croft to their cause, prepare to make an escape bid when reaching the mountain top ridge, and when the time is right, steal a Cylon fighter from the nearby landing field.

The Arcta blizzard continues in this great use of stock footage.

'ICE PLANET ZERO' AT 45: THANE IS CAPTURED!

Still in hiding with the Clone children, the news comes through to the Colonial team that Thane, having made an escape attempt and acting separate from the others, has now been captured by the Cylons,  a situation that has momentarily concerned Leda and Wolfe, both of whom are working together to plan their own later escape. 

Time is running out, as Boomer indicates to Starbuck.

Wolfe is concerned that his own escape plan could be compromised by Croft.

As Croft volunteers to get Thane back, Starbuck intercedes to investigate, but not before stopping Boxey from following him, and issuing the youngster with new orders to protect his fellow children.

"Dad said to keep an eye on you!" Boxey tells Starbuck when he plans to go without him.

Starbuck orders Boxey to stay there and keep the Clone children safe, and to stay away from girls!

Boxey agrees to Starbucks orders with a cheeky smile.
