She may not be the greatest of Viper pilots yet, but Cadet Bree soon knows how to destroy a Cylon Raider. Actress/model Janet Louise Johnson gives a charming and naive performance as the trainee during Lost Planet of the Gods. It was nice to see her again later in the series, too.
Soon passing its incredible 45TH ANNIVERSARY legacy, this is a celebration of the classic, world popular original TV series from 1978, created by Glen A. Larson for UNIVERSAL TELEVISION. Re-live the heroic adventures of the crew of the mighty GALACTICA, fleeing the Cylon tyranny, in its epic search for the lost Thirteenth Tribe on Earth.

CLASSIC IMAGE: FOR YOUR COLLECTION...
The clothes maketh the Colonial Warrior, as seen here with one of the original partial costumes and distinctive pilot helmets from the original series, created by the talented Jean-Pierre Dorleac, that was sold a few years back by the ever-hungry-for- product Prop Store auctions company. I'm sure it's in a dedicated collector's home somewhere being very well looked after.

CLASSIC ART: WARRIOR to WARRIOR!
It looks like one of our Colonial Warriors has finally met his match against a formidable Cylon centurion in this great cover variant art (by Sean Chen) for the first of the relaunched, all-new Classic Battlestar Galactica comics from Dynamite, of 2018.

'MISSION GALACTICA' AT FORTY-ONE!
![]() |
| Black and white advert for Mission. |
The heroes of the Colonial Fleet (many of them looking unrecognisable - perhaps due to actors likeness payment issues, save for Lorne Greene, the major star of the series who had to be in the marketing) get ready for the Cylon threat ahead and above them, in this great poster art for the theatrical release of Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack, which celebrates its UK release Forty-First Anniversary this month.

| Great May 1980 colour back page advert for the London release, as seen in MARVEL's Star Wars Weekly comic no less! |
In London, the film, deliberately released to box office cash-in on the arrival of the first Star Wars sequel in theatres- The Empire Strikes Back, debuted in spectacular style at the Empire Leicester Square theatre (and opposite to the Odeon Leicester Square, which was exclusively showing TESB). And like the original Battlestar Galactica released a year earlier, Mission had the memorable 'Sensurround' treatment added to it- your seat and ear drums certainly feeling the effects of a Colonial Viper blasting out of its launch tube!
With thanks to John Johnson for selected information and scans.

CLASSIC IMAGE: DISPLAY - GALACTICA!
One of the original Galactica filming models (plus a few hard to see Rag-Tag fleet vessels) and some accompanying military-glam attired Colonials represent the original Battlestar Galactica TV series, in this shop window display at the Universal Studios resort in Florida- an image taken during the Summer of 1990 by Scott Weller.

CLASSIC ART: SHAPELY SKY PILOTS!
Frank Frazetta's sexy interpretation of Galactica's female warriors (we assume Athena is the one holding the helmet) springing to action against the Cylons, from early publicity linked to Lost Planet of the Gods, would prove one of the most memorable and iconic art pieces linked to the classic series. The overhead Cylon Raiders and landed Vipers also prove an intriguing variation on what we're normally used to seeing.

CLASSIC ART: IN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM!
Going into cool science fiction monster mode, "This Planet Hungers..." is the byline for this intriguing adventure for our Colonial heroes from the MARVEL BATTLESTAR GALACTICA comic issue 10, of December, 1979. Striking cover art by Pat Broderick and Terry Austin.

CLASSIC IMAGE: 'TAKE CARE OF THE STOMACH..."
Despite his stomach ailment, Starbuck shares a laugh with his commanding officer, Apollo, as they hope for the good times to come from the armistice between Man and Cylon. A classic early moment from Saga of a Star World.

'THE BATTLE OF GALACTICA'!
Back in Spring 1980, and on our first family visit to Los Angeles, me (then an enthusiastic ten year old who couldn't wait to get to America!), mum, brother and sister-in-law visited UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and were caught in the Battle of Galactica experience-the now legendary Cylon/Colonial shoot 'em up that was part of the backlot tram ride. We greatly enjoyed it and I wished it had stayed at the theme park for a few years longer.
Here's some original footage of the time from goldcylon on Youtube: Battle of Galactica Universal Studio theme park tram ride - YouTube
