EXPLOITING THE HUMAN HOLOCAUST!

It's hard to believe that Sire Uri was one of the best and brightest of the Twelve Colony worlds' human populace. By the tine of Saga of a Star World, such characteristics are long gone. Now he's a corrupt, greedy and foolhardy figure intent on bringing the last remnants of his people to unforeseen ruin on the luxury death trap that is the Ovion resort on Carillon.

A fine and accomplished character actor, Ray Milland proved a superb casting choice in the Galactica pilot. What a shame the character never cam back for more antagonistic powerplay tussles with his old enemy, Adama...

CLASSIC IMAGE: "DO WHAT THE MAN SAYS, HE'S IN CHARGE!"

Sire Uri's game for control of the Colonial fleet is well and truly over once the Cylon's agrressive presence is discovered at the Ovion casino on Carillon, in this classic comedy moment from Saga of a Star World, which I clearly recall got a big laugh from cinema audiences in 1978.

Its a shame that Sire Uri never received a mention or made an appearance in the actual TV series ever again. Did he survive the battle on Carillon and go skulking back to the Rising Star?

DELETED SCENE: THE POWER OF THE CUBIT!

Always one for the pleasures of life, and before Sire Uri makes his bid for power, Starbuck enjoys his winnings at the Carillon casino, in an intriguing image that didn't make it into the final cut of Saga of a Star World.

DELETED SCENE: THE LORDS OF KOBOL PROTECT US!

The original ending of Saga of a Star World wasn't have to have been with Apollo and Starbuck returning to the Galactica after helping to destroy a Cylon Basestar above Carillon. Instead, there was to have been a finale scene where our heroes, including a sadly survived Sire Uri, gather for a celebration sing-along of their flight into the unknown, in which the dying Serina abandons Apollo and Boxey and disappears to bravely face her lonely demise from Cylon weapon poisoning. When put together, the sequence was ultimately deemed unsatisfactory and deleted-though Lorne Greene did prove that he had a very good singing voice!
