CLASSIC ART: LANDED ON A STRANGE WORLD...
Another one of the much-missed Ralph McQuarrie's concept/production paintings for the Saga of a Star World pilot from 1977/78, an evocative piece showing one of our heroes' Colonial Vipers parked on a strange world's terrain, which I presume is an early iteration of the tylium fused world of Carillon?

CLASSIC IMAGE: THREE LINED UP!
The classic effects shot of Colonial weaponry targeting three Cylon Raiders that was ultimately used much more than it should have been as battle scene stock footage through the first half of the classic series. Nonetheless, it was a brilliant piece of model/optical filming by Apogee back in 1978.

CLASSIC ART: IN A REALM OF FANTASY AND COMBAT!
Fantasy adventure meets intergalactic battle for Apollo in this great cover to the fourth book in the original Battlestar Galactica book series from Berkley Books, expanding the charming 1978/79 tale by Donald Bellisario, Frank Lupo and Paul Playdon of The Young Warriors, by Glen A. Larson and Robert Thurston.
Another stunning art piece by David Schleinkofer, even though it should be Starbuck firing away as the stranded hero of the story rather than Apollo.

CLASSIC ART: TRAPPED IN THE MEMORY MACHINE!
Having adapted the original pilot episode and the subsequent Lost Planet of the Gods two-parter, Marvel Comics goes into its own divergent but no less interesting storytelling direction from the aftermath of the battle at Kobol, as Adama urgently enters the dangerous Memory Machine, sabotaged by the returned Sire Uri, to try and recall the now destroyed Kobol ancient writings pinpointing the location of the lost Thirteenth Tribe. Action-packed cover art for issue 7 by Rich Buckler and Klaus Janson.
