'GALACTICA' AT 40: INTRODUCING APOLLO...

A huge fan of serious sci-fi in books and movies, up and coming star Richard Hatch was more than happy to sign on to play the series lead young hero of Captain Apollo by the start of 1978, for what was originally called Star Worlds.

Though home videos had started filtering on to the worldwide market by the late seventies, they were still very expensive to buy. Apart from the books and comics, and trips to the cinema, the only other way to experience the spectacle of the original Battlestar Galactica with its theatrical sequel Mission Galactica was by cinefilm Super 8mm compilation, as seen here with the back cover of this rare German release.

The start of the new year and our 40th Anniversary celebrations of the Classic Series get off to this explosive start, as the mighty Galactica and its Vipers once more bravely engage the ever-hounding Cylon menace.
