FIRST REVIEW OF THE 'GALACTICA' MOVIE BLU-RAY...

Christopher Mills at his hugely popular SPACE 1970 blogsite has got the US Blu-ray release of the theatrical release and is overall very happy with it. Check out the review here: space1970: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1978) Capsule Blu-ray Review

A helpful source at UNIVERSAL has informed me that UK fans might see the release by the end of the year.

So far, the release is only available from BESTBUY, of which I've been hearing bad things about their overall service States-side: Battlestar Galactica (Bby) - Blu-ray Disc

With thanks to Blu-ray.com for the front and back sleeves.

  1. I was happy to finally pick it up, but I kept my hopes low because the very nature of Galactica (being filmed specifically for television viewership) didn't really allow for much improvement on blu-ray, unless prints were cleaned, digitized, etc..

Mixed blessing.. The live action principle photography was very nice, but the effects shots were pretty grainy at best on my 50" flatscreen. Not a knock per se.., it's just how Galactica was originally conceived as we know. It's big screen excursions were done solely to gain interest overseas and recoup the financial investment from Universal.

    Still fun to have.
