Soon passing its incredible 45TH ANNIVERSARY legacy, this is a celebration of the classic, world popular original TV series from 1978, created by Glen A. Larson for UNIVERSAL TELEVISION. Re-live the heroic adventures of the crew of the mighty GALACTICA, fleeing the Cylon tyranny, in its epic search for the lost Thirteenth Tribe on Earth.

CLASSIC IMAGE: DAD?
A great posed image of Fred Astaire and Dirk Benedict on the Galactica bridge set, from one of my favourite episodes of the weekly series: The Man with Nine Lives, where Astaire shined as the wily con-man, and possible father to Starbuck, Chameleon.

GALACTICA 1980: BACK, BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT...
Despite the always excellent STARLOG magazine's May 1980 issue importantly heralding a new series of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and despite the welcome presence of sexy Robyn Douglass as human liaison Jamie, GALACTICA 1980 ultimately proved not to be the series we actually, really wanted- a rushed to conception format, which changed by its second story, that lacked most of its original stars.

CLASSIC ART: GAME OVER?!
Looks like Starbuck's love for gambling has put him on the wrong side of a blaster- many blasters, in fact! - in this great Walt Simonson cover art for the fun, if short-lived, MARVEL COMIC series from 1979.

CLASSIC IMAGE: MONITORING THE VIPERS...
Another essential lady in the GALACTICA universe: Sarah Rush as Flight Corporal Rigel, seen through a lot of the first half of the series, and a much loved contributor to US conventions linked to the series.

CLASSIC IMAGE: DEATH IN THE SKY!
Recklessly thinking they can take out the pulsar cannon on the ice world of Arcta, Cadet Cree sees his youthful colleague Shields and his viper turned to fiery destruction above the mountain-housed weapon, in a scene from the opening to Gun on Ice Planet Zero.

The Cylon Garrison continues its pursuit of the Colonial Warriors, going fully across a bridge towards the elevator complex, in an unseen moment from Saga of a Star World.

CLASSIC MERCHANDISE: WAR IN SPACE!
War in space, and that's what the great poster artwork for the film showed us back in the day on colour brochures specially available to selected UK, US and Canadian cinema audiences.
Here's a great interview with Glen A. Larson on the creation of the series:

CLASSIC ART: THE ODYSSEY RETURNED...
Another fine piece of cover art of our heroes from 2004, for a UK TITAN BOOKS collector's comic series of the first five issues of the original MARVEL COMICS US colour series, plus a later two-parter, showcasing the brilliant Walt Simonson.
If anyone knows the identity of the cover artist, please get in touch.
